Job role: Mechanic – Small tools/machines
Location: Base -Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Transport: Full driving license preferred, trailer licence advantageous
Hours of work: Full time, 8.00am start
Experience: A proven record of carrying out small tool mechanics, having a minimum of a basic knowledge in petrol, diesel and electrics. Small tool mechanics would include machinery and tools from ground care, a horticultural background, construction and forestry. You must be able to work to a high standard and have a passion for garden machinery and tool repairs.
The role:
We are pleased that due to continued demand for our services we are looking for a Mechanic to become an integral part of Barlaston Tool Shed, working alongside our chief mechanic two days per week and continuing the good service on the other three days. You will be required to work in our workshop and carry out tasks such as fault finding, general servicing and repairs as well as routine maintenance and customer service.
Ideally the candidate will have extensive experience however you will be trained with the aim of becoming the full time ‘go to’ person when competent. The successful candidate may be required to work onsite on occasion supporting either the gardeners or landscapers or even supporting with adhoc duties at the yard. Confidence interacting with customers face to face will be important going forward.
About you:
- Positive attitude and an aptitude for learning.
- Mechanical experience, in a similar background would be advantageous.
- Full driving licence, ideally with a trailer licence.
- Enjoy working outside in all weathers as required.
- Be physically fit.
- Personally motivated.
- Ability to work alone as required, for example in the workshop setting.
- Good motivational skills.
- Able to work to deadlines.
- Work to a high standard with a keen eye for detail, showing care and thought in all you do.
- Effective communication skills with other members of the team, the public and clients.
- Have basic computer skills, for example to search for parts, update spreadsheets etc.
- A good knowledge of Health and Safety with respects to mechanics, gardening and landscaping.
