Position: HR & Recruitment Officer

Salary: £24,000 to £28,000/year DOE

Hours: Ordinarily 8.30am – 5.00pm, 40 hours per week.

Location: Barlaston, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire

Experience: Ideally 2 year’s HR and recruitment experience in a generalist role is desirable.

We are pleased to announce that we have an opportunity for an HR & Recruitment Officer to become an integral part of the Planterra group. The successful candidate will work in a standalone role but closely with the Managing Director and management team to ensure the smooth running of the HR function in its entirety for the companies.

  • Previous experience creating company policies and being involved with the company strategic decision-making process would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The HR & Recruitment Officer will be ‘hands on’ in dealing with the entirety of the day to day operations of the HR function for both the office and onsite teams. It is the role of the HR & Recruitment Officer to lead the companies to success in terms of recruitment requirements, training and development and compliance.

The HR & Recruitment Officer will be responsible for the running of the HR function including all administrative processes. As this is a standalone role you will be hands on and the point of contact for all colleagues in relation to HR for a team currently comprising of 35 colleagues.

The role may also be required to focus on projects required to further the group, such as implementing a major organisational change or expansion. The type of tasks involved in this area of work will change depending upon the requirements of the business as it grows.

Responsibilities within the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Fully responsible for ensuring that recruitment is completed efficiently from identifying the position, advertising the vacancy to arranging and conducting the interviews to completing the offer process.
  • Completing the full induction process;
  • Co-ordinating and completing probationary reviews and staff appraisals as necessary;
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing individuals;
  • Organising and conducting where appropriate any training needs of teams or individuals;
  • Establishing and monitoring performance goals and the achievement of those, especially with the onsite team;
  • Personally completing all HR and administrative processes and recording information accurately;
  • Support with basic payroll collation and information;
  • Supporting the Operations Manager and Office Manager in the coordination and management of the office and onsite teams as required;
  • Implementing adhoc projects for various aspects of the group as required;
  • Actively taking part in strategy meetings as required by the Managing Director;
  • Identifying and assisting in the creation of or developing existing company policies and procedures when required and implementing fully;
  • Reviewing the running efficiency of the HR function and implementing improvement measures where appropriate;
  • Creating (with experience) and communicating risk assessments across the business as required;
  • End to end disciplinary process as required;
  • Reporting directly to the Managing Director;
  • Developing relationships with all colleagues to encourage an inclusive environment.
